The other day I got a dynamo torch, you know the ones that don’t need batteries, just wind up and go.  I have been wanting a dynamo torch for a long time and I have to say “I love my dynamo”.  Perhaps it’s my thrifty nature but I just find free electricity fantastic, if only we could put a big wind up handle on the side of the house!  Now when you consider my love of the torch and add my tendency to talk in my sleep, it’s not that surprising that I woke my husband up in the middle of the night with a direct beam of light to his eyes and then apologised.  This is second hand information I might add because I recall doing no such thing but apparently I did. Over the years I have been chattering away like a nutter during the night hours and for the last two years my seven year old is is having night time conversations as well.  I don’t know why we do it but I can’t remember any of it and neither can Claire. Let’s just hope she doesn’t pick up my other night time skill… abusing people. Well only my husband really since he is right next to me. Now I’m not one to swear because I find it quite vulgar but when I’m asleep my mind must not agree with me on swearing because I sat straight up in bed and yelled at Luke – “shut the fucking door you idiot!”

I have just been informed by a reliable source (you know who you are) that women use 4000 words per day.  Since my source has spend quite a considerable time with women I don’t doubt him but I do question the accuracy of this figure.   I don’t know about the average person but I find myself talking ALL day.  In the shower, to the dog, to the cat, to the plants, while doing the dishes, hanging the clothes on the line, vacuuming, while making lunch etc etc etc.  I talk about what I’m doing at that moment in time, what needs to be done and what’s NOT going to get done.  I talk to the kids about absolutely nothing in particular until they seem to tune out to my voice and go to their “happy place”.   However, don’t be fooled – I’m NOT a people person. So if I talk this much through an average day surely that 4000 words a day should be bumped up to something like 6500!
