My song...

Luke was on the computer the other day (yes he managed to get me off it) and when I walked into the room he said “this one goes out to you nugget”.  He then played the song ‘You’re as cold as ice” by Foreigner.  I’m sure that’s a joke he stole from Kath & Kim but considering I have ice running through my veins instead of blood I’ll take that as a compliment.  Love you too Luke!

Cyber date...

texas hold em

Last night my husband and I had a cyber date.  He sat on the bed with his laptop and I sat at the computer desk right next to the bed, we both logged into our Facebook accounts and the evenings entertainment began.   He bought me cyber peanuts and I bought him cyber beer and we proceeded to both win and lose as we enjoyed a great game of poker.  With the chat function on we were able to message each other, hi 5 each other and insult each other.  It was a great night and it didn’t cost us a cent, can’t wait for our next cyber date!

There’s more soap in my ring than diamond!...

soap
I’m not a jewelry loving person by any means but I noticed something today that just may change my mind.  Oh I’ll never be the type of person who wears bangles and necklaces with matching ear rings but I think I may notice engagement rings a little closer now.  You see I was standing around waiting for my seven year old and I happened to look down at my wedding band and of course my engagement ring.  I noticed that the wedding band had pushed into the engagement ring and left an obvious indentation on the clasp holding the diamond “flake” in place.  Then on a closer inspection I noticed that I could not look through the clasp.  Now to clarify something we are talking about a $100 engagement ring ( I was only 18 and money was non-existent) with no depth to the diamond.  So I’m used to looking straight through that clasp….just thin air and nothing more.  However today it was solid.  I’m a firm believer in miracles but I doubted very much that a new diamond miraculously turned up in my engagement ring.  Then the truth hit me…soap!  It was full of soap and the truth about the situation at hand was that there’s more soap in my ring than diamond!

He’s black where it counts!...

I has a marriage

Luke and I have been married 12 years this June.  Quite a long time these days with a divorce rate somewhere around 50%.  I would attribute common interests and a firm belief in God for our marriage surviving this far.  We have had our low times and high times but that’s just part of life.   Meeting each other at 16 then getting married a little shy of my 19th birthday sounds crazy to some.  I’m just grateful I met my sole mate at such an early age.  I can’t imagine being “on the market” and having to really date.  At 16 a date consists of the movies and McDonald’s…easy!  I could also attribute our happiness to such things as compromise, respect and the joy of children but what I tell people most of all is one simple fact.  He may be a slightly overweight white guy BUT  he’s black where it counts…need I say more?
