My poor babies started school yesterday not knowing anyone and not even knowing where the toilet block was. I had great fears as I dropped Claire off in her grade five class room because the class had already started and as she sat down the girl next to her rolled her eyes and mumbled something under her breath. My poor shy baby, how would she cope? Next was Natalie but she was easier to let go of because there were still mothers in her class room so I had time to introduce her to other kids and chat with some mothers. Still, I spent the whole day keeping busy trying not to think about the hurdle my girls had to jump… new school, no friends, no idea of the school routine, no idea of the school layout. MY POOR BABIES! When I went to pick them up I was tackled by Natalie with a huge hug from the side. I asked her how her day was and she just said “eeeerrrhhh”, so I’m guessing it wasn’t too good but she survived. Claire made a friend so that’s good but overall I think the first day at a new school was quite overwhelming for my two shy girls, let’s hope day two is a little better.

OMG I got goosebumps reading that! your poor baby girls!! I woudl have been a stark raving mess by the end of yesterday! they look so grown up in their uniforms, which look very swish…are they going to a private school? the uniforms look very private schoolish…quite schmiko really, although perhaps it’s just that your girls woudl look that good in anythign? I hope it gets easier for them, and every day is better than the one before, hugs to your beautiful girls to get through this first couple of weeks!
No it’s not private but they sure have good funding and great classes. They run it as if it were private though… no rounded collars, boys MUST tuck their shirt in, white socks for girls, blue for boys. Black shoes only, no markings or colours on them. The uniforms are expensive as well… $65 for the jacket! Also, the kids are taught LOTE from the first grades and now in grade 5 Claire has no idea what the hell is going on… LOTE didn’t start in her old school until grade 5!
ha, well the stats of kids from “english as a second language” households would be pretty big round there, I reckon. what language are they learning? how did they both go today, I hope they are settling in ok? I reckon Dibby won’t be hassled because she has olives in her lunch anymore…I am sure there woudl be some strange concoctions in others lunchboxes??
