Natalie woke me up early this morning with a flood of tears and fear in her eyes, she had obviously had a bad dream. I invited her to snuggle in bed with me but the tears continued and she clung onto me as if her life depended on it. Usually she doesn’t want to talk about her bad dreams but since her crying wasn’t slowing down I asked her what scared her so much. She then told me that she didn’t have a scary dream but rather a sad one. She had dreamt that I had walked out on the family leaving Claire and Natalie alone… abandonment fears! I assured her that I wasn’t going anywhere and soon after she was dozing in my arms. I assume her fear comes from the talk the other day about me getting a weekend job, which as a family we have decided is not worth it. I would hate to have seen her reaction if the talk had been about full-time work!

Awww, poor little thing.
I had the same issue last night, my boy was crying after I put him to bed, I only heard by chance when I walked past his room. He is scared daddy will have another accident…how can I promise he won’t???
That must be a common fear then, loss of a parent.
For my boy the worst punishment in the world is putting him in his room, he hates being away from me.
