Parental home care vs daycare

We recently had parent teacher interviews for my prep aged child. She’s right on track which is nice to know, a “quiet achiever” in her teachers own words. She received above average for her socialisation skills which leads me to the point I want to make. For years I have heard the argument that children need to go to day care to socialise and play with other kids but now I know it’s a load of crap. Natalie’s teacher told us that in her experience it’s the kids who are brought up in day care that fall behind in social skills and are not as mature as the parental home care children. Stay at home parents offer children one on one contact where as day care children can be in a situation where ten children are competing for the attention of one adult. A home situation also offers children to bond with siblings where as day care situations are split into age groups and siblings may not have any contact depending on their age gap. I have always been a firm believer in stay at home mums or dads and hearing from an early childhood teacher that they are also better in social situations has just concreted my believe. Sure you are down an income but sometimes the right thing to do comes with a price.

Agreed!
I agree too. My 3 year old boy just started care today for one day a week, but that is really just so I have some one on one time with my baby girl and a little bit of freedom
