I have to say that my husband is a great father. When the girls were small he changed nappies, fed them, woke up during the night to care for them even if he started work early the next day. He plays with them, helps them with homework and currently he is staying in a job that he’s not satisfied in to provide for them. In fact a few years ago he was working three jobs… count them… one… two… three…plus studying full time! Now that’s dedication. Flip the coin and on the other side we have dead beat dads. I’m thinking of one in particular, my nephews father. He can spend money on alcohol and cigarettes but when it comes to paying $6.50 a week for his son the money can’t be found. Oh no, he let’s HIS father pay for his child support, now call me harsh but I would say that’s a perfect example of a dead beat dad. We pay more than that for a sponsor child every month! I just find it sad to think that some fathers out there get away with contributing practically nothing to the costs of raising THEIR OWN children. $6.50 a week doesn’t even cover a box of nappies. If the children are school age, $6.50 wouldn’t even start to cover the costs of uniforms, school books and school fees. How can this be the new fairer form of child support? This government needs to wake up and smell the coffee… if you are left holding the baby (so to speak) $6.50 is a joke!

Oh wow! Is that how cheap it is to be just a sperm donor? How nice that he just pays for his son to have one Happy Meal a week….Oh, waite! What am I talking about? A Happy Meal costs too much – have to make that $6.50 spread accross 7 days worth of breakfast, lunch and dinner! Does he expect the little guy to live on spaghetti. No bread. No butter. Cause bread and butter would take it over that $6.50! What a loser?
I’m a bloke and I agree. I reckon blokes should pass some kind of test that either grants or denies them a license to breed. Just pray your nephew adopts a positive role model at some stage in his youth.
And kudos to your hubbie who is a REAL man.
Oh, by the way, I would have passed that test, so it’s okay for me to breed. Just in case anyone was wondering…
