I don’t want to grow up
Most children can’t wait to grow up, not my angel though. My five year old looked at me with those puppy dog eyes of hers and said with a dropped lower lip “I don’t want to grow up.” I asked her why not and she explained to me that she didn’t want to leave her mama and go live in another house. I told her that with the way the house prices and rentals are going she will probably be living with us for a VERY long time. That made her feel better but she wanted to lock it in for the long term and asked if she could live next door to me when she leaves home. I said sure thing honey. In twelve years from now she will probably be hanging to leave home and have her bags packed and ready at the first opportunity. For now though I’ll enjoy the fact that my daughter can’t see a future without me living with her. She better remember this when I’m old and frail and rather than throwing me in a nursing home she can make room for me in her house… a nice little granny flat would be nice.

Awww! That’s soooo cute! But I do want to point out that you did pass on your negativity about the housing costs and I do recall in a previous post reading something about how you were going to teach the girls about reaching for the unreachable dreams and pushing beyond their goals (I think that was the gest of it!) So, when you are telling her that she will never afford a house to either own let alone rent are we doing this sevendaymother? hmmm! I think not! (you know me….just picture how I would say this to you!)
Oh I know you… I have your voice ringing in my ears as I type. What you fail to see is….. oh….shut up Angela! Now I have Luke over my shoulder saying “Yes, I agree with Angela”.

Luke, no way do I think I have it any where as bad as you! I know you will get a house! I am cheering for you! And if I had a yearly goal list you and getting a house would be at the top of it! (Danielle discluded for reasons previously stated…tehehe!)
Like I said 4 years ago, Australia is heading down the same path as the UK with housing affordability. Get ready to be sharing with 5 mates just to live.
We may be heading down that path for sure but it won’t effect me. I will get my own place. I don’t care if they take away the damn market… I am getting a house. Blam!
