Terrorism alarm drill
My oh my things have changed since I was in primary school. My children were all excited to tell me that the alarms went off at school the other day and they all screamed. I recall the fire alarm being a nice break from school work but I certainly didn’t find it exciting. A bell rings and we all leave the classroom to assemble on the prickle covered oval for a head count, add the scorching heat to that and most of us kids just wanted to get back in the classroom and out of the sun. Not these days… my girls were telling me about a new drill. Sure they still practice the fire drill but there is another alarm that rings and instantly the teachers lock the doors and students help shutting and locking windows. Then all the kids hide under their desks or behind their chairs, I assume that’s to avoid flying bullets in case of a school shooting. What a sad state this world had ended up in when five year olds practice safety procedures for a school shooting.
