Skin cancer and Mangoes

Mangoes

No…. skin cancer is not linked to mangoes, not that I’m aware of anyway.  These two things are what I think of when I think of Summer.  It’s hot and sticky and a day at the beach is fantastic however Queensland is the melanoma state.   The U.V factor is extreme in Summer and It’s easy to burn which can lead to skin cancer…that’s the pessimist side of me surfacing.  On the up side, Summer fruits are the best….. peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, apricots and of course MANGOES!  I bought a tray of Mangoes for $10 today with only 9 mangoes in it.  Sounds like a dud deal?  Not when you consider the fact that these mangoes are HUGE…..you need two hands to hold them.  I was eating a cheek and the squares were so large they were rectangles and as I bit into the juicy sweet flesh there was SO much I ended up with mango sliding up my nose, around my cheek and down to my chin.  Sounds gross doesn’t it?  It was, it really really was but it was SO good!
