The benefits of renting a dump
![]()
Let us discuss the benefits of renting a dump. When I say dump I don’t mean a death trap, I have seen plenty let me assure you. I remember seeing one rental with a rug already in the lounge room and as I got closer the reason became clear. It was covering a watermelon size hole that lead to the garage. I’m keen to get into the air-conditioned comfort of my car but not that keen. I swear the railing along the stairs was simply super glued on - that was a deathtrap and needless to say with small children we didn’t rent that house. We did have to move out of a death trap once, every time it rained we had buckets out to catch the water leaking from the ceiling. The large amount of water pouring down the kitchen wall past the power sockets and phone line convinced us it was time to move. The house we are in at the moment is a small 3 bedroom with no garage but it’s a roof over our head. When we first moved in I could have cried (lack of any real emotions stopped that from happening) the house was so dirty and I had to clean it from top to bottom. The windows were dirty, food was still in the cupboard and the place was simply in a dumpy state. However the benefits of this became clear when we had out first real estate inspection - I didn’t have to do a thing. No window cleaning, wall washing, bathroom scrubbing etc etc. What could the real estate agent say, nothing!! Of course I keep the house clean and tidy for my family but I’m not scrubbing anything and it’s a great feeling knowing that I don’t have to fear the quarterly inspections.
