Versatile Weet-Bix
I was making a meat pie the other day and I usually add bread crumbs to make the mix stick together. I can’t buy pies anymore, not after reading about the gluten and fillers involved in commercial pie making. So anyway, I was cooking away and I though….aaahhh, let’s try something. I hate wasting food and our Weet-Bix box was almost empty but there was a lot of crumbs in the bottom. So in they went instead of bread crumbs. I didn’t tell the family I just waited to see if they noticed. My husband said “Nice pie nugget”. (Yes that’s my pet name) Then I told him that there was Weet-Bix in the pie. I have to say that I hate a sloppy pie but the crushed weet-bix gave a nice texture and taste. Did I mention that I played “hide the zucchini” with this dish? Yep, a whole zucchini went into my pie and the kids were none the wiser.
