Give blood……it’s a good day out!
Sometimes it’s hard to come up with things to do that don’t cost any money. Well let me suggest that you save a life! The blood bank always need blood donations however only 3% of the population actually give blood. You can donate blood every 12 weeks (as long as you pass the eligibility questionairre) and you can feel good in the knowledge that you have helped save a life. As a bonus you can book for a donation around lunch time and have a free lunch of sandwiches and sausage rolls, tea or coffee and it won’t cost you a cent. Now that’s my type of day out, plus I had a cherry ripe last time I gave blood and that alone is incentive enough for me! However, if you donate at the mobile blood bank instead of the city location you are limited to cordial and crackers, or water and sweets…… it’s still free and nothing is better than free! You also get an iron level test, blood pressure check and a weigh in….that’s as close to a medical check up as I get.
